At a library yesterday I came across a book entitled "People, Postoffices and Communities in Caroline County, Virginia, 1727-1969" by Rev. Ralph Emmet Fall. In the book he describes a house in the Reedy Church District called 'Frog Pond' as "a frame house, originally 1-1/2 stories, raised to two stories in about 1900, with seven rooms, was built c. 1790. Owners: James Dyson, one of the first owners; Dr. L.C. Pollard, who lived here a few years prior to 1860; William Freeman, c. 1861, in whose family the house remained afterward. South of the house is the Dyson family graveyard without markers." I am descended from James Dyson. The book seems to tally with my grandmother's description of a house pointed out to her many years ago as belonging to her great-grandparents. Dr. Pollard moving in prior to 1860 coincides with the fact that James Dyson and his wife both died c. 1856. I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who knows anything about this house or the cemetery. Is this the 'Dyson-Barnett-Dimue-Thomas' graveyard listed in Volume 2 of Caroline County Cemeteries, or is this a different one that isn't in the book? Larry Dickerson
