"Inscriptions taken from the following cemeteries: Christian: Antioch; Baptists: Bethany, Bethel, Lebanon, Mt. Herman, Mt. Horeb, Providence, Round Oak, Salem; Methodists: Bethel, Bowling Green, Carmel, Concord, County Line, Mt. Vernon, Rehoboth, St. Paul's, Shiloh, Wright's Chapel; Episcopal: Grace, St. Margaret's, St. Peter's; Catholic: Sts. Cyril and Metlodious, St. Mary's; Others: Golansville Meeting House, Greenlawn, Lakewood." Vol. 2: Private Cemeteries has "inscriptions of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, taken from 125 private cemeteries." Vol. 3: Private Cemeteries covers "170 cemeteries of which a dozen or so fall into the bounds of present-day Spotsylvania County. Much of this area once belonged to Caroline County.
