FYI fellow listers: For those of you who subscribe to Ancestry.com, , just in case you didn't know, there is a data base of some 300,000 Virginia marriages from all counties between 1740 and 1850. My surname is WHARTON so I clicked on that and found 100 Wharton marriages in all counties. It lists the bride and groom's names, marriage date and county. Here is the address but it does require membership. http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/search/3723.htm Ancestry Library SEARCH Virginia Marriage Index, 1740-1850 Description: Throughout the 18th and well into the 19th Century, Virginia was one of the most populous states in the Union, being home to as many as 1.2 million persons at any one time.
