    3. Dear Fellow Researchers, I would be grateful if anyone can shed light on the following: 1. Is there a "Meachon River" in Caroline County? This has become embedded in Meacham genealogy, but I believe it results from confusion of the Mechum River in Albemarle County. 2. Joseph Meacham (also Mitcham) -- witnessed some deeds for the Crutchfields in the 1740s. What I am seeking specifically is Joseph's wife's name (I believe she was Elizabeth Crutchfield) and any other references to him in Caroline Co. 3. William Meacham -- his date and place of birth and marriage is unknown at present. He appears in Caroline Co. in the 1750s, and moved to N. Carolina in the 1760s or 70s. Another entrenched tradition in Meacham genealogy is that his wife was Elizabeth Crutchfield, but I believe that this was his mother, and Joseph his father. 3. Are there surviving parish records from the 1720s to 1750s for Caroline County that would have birth and marriage records? Are marriage banns available from that period? Thanks very much for any assistance. William Meacham, Centre of Asian Studies, University of Hong Kong. Another email address for me is: wmeacham@hkucc.hku.hk
