But the records I have show his name as Hilbert Jefferson Stevens, and his birthplace as Edinburg, Scotland in 1822. He had a son, born in the later 1800's named Hilbert Temple Stevens. I also have Hilbert Jefferson's wife listed as Elizabeth Purks, daughter of Sam or John (not sure) Purks and Judy Merriman. But that could have been a typo and it could have been Merryman. I am in email contact with Hilbert Temple's grandson.
