    1. Re: Sneed/Munday (and adding Daniel)

    3. Just to add to the Sneed (or Snead) family information. Benjamin Daniel married Margaret Brown in Caroline County, VA on 8 Sep 1790. Benjamin was, according to information I found in the Madison, IN public library, the son of William Daniel and Mary Snead. Benjamin and Margaret Daniel migrated, probably immediately after their marriage, to Mercer County, Kentucky. They are also mentioned in "Forks of the Elkhorn Church." Mary Snead was, again according to the information in the Madison, IN public library, a daughter of John Snead. John operated a public house in Caroline County, and appears several times in the court records renewing his license. His public house was located "near William Daniel's mill." I have found the record of Benjamin Daniel's marriage to Margaret Brown, but have not been able to find any record of a marriage of William Daniel to Mary Snead. All of these families, Brown, Daniel, Noel, Munday, and Snead/Sneed, appear to have migrated about the same time to Mercer County, Kentucky from Caroline County, Virginia. Margaret Brown was, according to Ermine Jett Darnell, a daughter of Berryman Brown and Mary Noel, who came to Caroline County from Essex County. There is a very well documented Noel family in Essex County, but so far I have not been able to connect Mary Noel to this family. Her father was reportedly Scott Noel. You are right, that this is a very difficult period to try to research in Caroline County. I'd say that was one of the understatements of the year. Oh, by the way, the "information in the Madison, IN public library," is a collection of pages in the Daniel Family Folder. They appear to have been copied from a family Bible, but their original source is not known. So far, all the information on these pages that I have been able to check in original sources has proven to be correct.
