Hello- Saw your post re STEWART/BEAZLEY I am researching a slave ancestor Otway BROWN (my g-gfather) b. in Caroline Cty in 1838. . I found record on Ancestry.com of an Otway BROWN listed as (working for?) BEAZLEY & CO of Henrico cty (AIS census index 1850). - Family legend states that Otway changed our surname to STEWARD after Emancipation, but his marriage certificate (1868) lists his parents as Charles and Mahala STEWART . I thought the spelling might have been a typo by the clerk, but after reading your post I'm not sure. My questions are these: -Do your BEAZLEY's have any connection to Henrico cty? - Do your STEWART records make any mention of a slave named OTWAY, or a wife or dau for Charles named AMANDA? - Do you know what kind of bsns BEAZLEY and CO of Henrico county was?
