    1. Richard Johnston (c. 1740-87)
    2. Joe Johnston
    3. Son of William Johnston and Ann Chew. Married, about 1762, Dorothy Waller, daughter of William Waller and Ann Stanard. Married, second, Ann Smith. With Dorothy, had Ann (1766-67) and Richard Waller Johnston (1768-91) and, I'm pretty sure, an older son, William Waller Johnston (c.1764-1823) who moved to Green County (the part that is now Taylor County) Kentucky before 1820 and died there. I'm not sure of Richard Johnston's attachment to Caroline County. His father, William, was a merchant there but, in 1763, William sold some land to Richard "of Spts. Co." (Crozier) and other documents show him living in Culpeper in 1768 and 1769. However, a Richard Johnston was a member of the Caroline County Committee of Safety in 1774-76. I'd be happy to hear from any descendants of this numeous tribe of Johnstons.
