Thomas Jones, (Jr) was the son of Thomas Jones and Sarah Woolfolk Jones (she died in 1797). He inherited his mother's land, near Dougetown (Milford) and he died in 1805, his widow Jane was still holding a life estate in the land in 1833. Does anyone known anything about Jane? Thomas Jones, Jr. and later his wife, Jane, paid taxes on a stagecoach. I suppose they must have been involved in that business. I am trying to find their children. Could this Jane Jones be the widow of Thomas Jones, Jr.? Jane Jones consents for her daughter, Jane H. Jones to marry 19 Dec 1809, John B. Valentine. Jonathan Jones was the witness to the consent and is surety to the bond. Thank you, Ann
Ann, I am very interested in a possible link between your Thomas JONES, Sr. and 5 brothers who left St. Margaret's Parish before 1760. The 5 brothers are Robert, John, James, Richard, & Ambrose all settling on the NC/VA border in Halifax & Mecklenburg Cos., VA and Granville Co., NC. Robert was of St. Margaret's Parish according to a 1752 deed in Granville Co. and I believe he may have been a Constable in St. Margaret's Parish ca 1740. I think I find him as well as John in the Order Books of Caroline and associated with Thomas. Do you or any researchers you are aware of have any facts or theories re Thomas' parents?
