This is true, women and children did not count at all. Even when it came to eating in the South. The women cooked all day, then served the men first then the children and if they left anything over the women got to eat and then clean up all the mess to boot! No wonder we learned to over eat as a Nation! The women in an all out effort to make sure they did not end up going hungry cooked in huge washtub size pots!!
