He married LOUISA MAY GRAY SAUNDERS November 14, 1831 in Caroline County, Virginia, daughter of REUBEN SAUNDERS and FRANCES GRAY with Philip Chapman signing the marriage bond. Louisa was born 1812 in Greene County, Virginia, and died Aft. 1880 in Crawford County, Missouri. Some places have his name as Anderson Walter Chapman, but on BLM documents in Missouri he shows signing his name was Walter A. Chapman.
