Hi - I have only seen lists of soldiers in the state where they served - not their birth states - I don't think they had the capability of keeping those lists back then... in fact, most of us are very fortunate if we can find the unit our ancestors served in! Just recently I found my York ancestor and disappointed the entire family by informing them he was a private not a captain! So it goes... most were privates! I know another ancestor was at King's Mountain, but he was underage and just followed his older brothers, keeping to the woods until the battle when he joined them and it was too late to send him home....later he joined a unit... and you will never find his name on any King's Mountain list! ;-( Diane ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, June 18, 2005 11:29 PM Subject: [VACAROLI] Re: VACAROLI-D Digest V05 #89 Hi Diane, Yes, Joel Vaughn served from Rutherford Co., NC BUT was born in Caroline Co., so it does say something, right? That's very sad, and should be changed and made right today. If other stuff can get changed why not his. Can you prove your story of him hiding in the woods and such. If so I would give it a try. I mean he risked his life side by side with his brothers, he did later join a unit so I don't see why it would be such a terrible thing to make a correction. I mean I think our founding fathers and earlier ancestors deserve the very best after what all they did to make this country the place we call home today! If it were not for them we would be in a real pickle!
