    1. Re: Jones
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Jones, Woolfolk, Bridges, Hill, Gatewood Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IBC.2ACI/2483.1 Message Board Post: I didn't know everyone was claiming Thomas, in fact I didn't know anyone was claiming him. <G> Thomas Jones, Jr, (son of Thomas Jones and Sarah Woolfolk), in 1805 it was stated he was "lately deceased" so that eliminates Thomas Jones, the pensioner of Spotsylvania. And his brother, Edmund Jones died sometime between 1798 & 1805. So he wouldn't be on the 1810 census. Louisa (Jones) Bridges was dec'd by 1815. Richard Bridges m 2nd Mrs. Nancy (Johnson) Norment in 1816 George Jones died about Oct 1796, Interlocutory Decree given Nov 1805 (death of the exor, Thomas Jones in 1805, necessitated this interim action). Suit brought to divide the estate of George Jones between Richard Jones & his 2 underage sisters. The wife of George Jones died after him but before 1805, as did his son John Jones. His exor's were his brother, Thomas Jones, Jr & Richard Bridges, his brother-in-law. His daughters were Sarah & Elizabeth, surviving son Richard T. Jones. Additional records and the chancery suit "Davis vs Jones". we learn the widow of George was named Sarah & his surviving children, Sarah Woolfolk Jones, Elizabeth Woolfolk Jones & Richard Thomas Jones - all moved to Kentucky See the chancery suits. Edmund Jones et al vs Richard Jones (cir 1798) Richard Jones Vs Richard Bridges (1804-1806) See my earlier post - Thomas Jones, Jr. inherited the land of his parents, died in 1805 & the land then was held (taxed) by his widow Jane, continously and as late as 1831. Jane, widow of Thomas Jones of Caroline and Jane as the widow, resided in Caroline (and was so listed) as one of the heirs of Thomas Hill. (Partition Records Pickaway County, Ohio) Caroline 1810 Jane Jones - 11100 02101 24 slaves 1820 Jane Jones - 010100 - 20101 (slaves: 8-4-1-2, 8-4-2-1) Also as per the tax records, Thomas Jones, Jr. had been a part of the Woolfolk Stage Lines and after his death Jane continued the business for a few years. (Caroline tax records) Jane's brother William was married to Anne "Nancy" Woolfolk, dtr of Robin Woolfolk (m Anne George), near neighbor and brother of Sarah Woolfolk Jones. The tax records showed that the land of George Jones was transferred to James Gatewood.
