I descend from a Ambrose Smith who had a son in Caroline Co. Va born 1765 John R. Smith. In Caroline Co.Orderbook 1765-1767 I found the following: Andrew COCKRAN, James DONALD and Company Against Ambrose SMITH. In debt. This day the plaintiff came by their Attorney and the defendent came not. It is considered by the Court that the Plaintiffs recover against the Defendent and Walter ROSS his security L14.16.4 current money. This judgement may be discharged by the payment of L7.8.2 current money with lawfull interest from Dec. 19, 1755 and the costs. Would like to find out more on Walter Ross and family.
