    3. Lois, Warm greetings to you! I am actually one of your cousins through the Herndon family! I descend from another William Herndon, b. Abt. 1706. My William Herndon seems to be a first cousin of your William Herndon. My William was the son of James Herndon and Mary Elliott George. Was your William the son of Edward Herndon and Mary Elizabeth Waller? Both James and Edward Herndon were the sons of William Herndon of Kent, England. I have done very little primary source research on the early Herndon family beyond my ancestor William (b. Abt. 1706). What follows is my descent from the Herndons: 1. William Herndon (b. Ca. 1706 d. Bef. Nov. 8, 1759 in Caroline County, Virginia) m. Sarah Poe (d. 1788) 2. James Herndon, Sr. (b. Ca. 1731 in Caroline County, Virginia, d. January 20, 1815 in Logan County, Kentucky) m. Isabella Thompson (d. January 27, 1807 in Logan County, Kentucky) Ca. 1730 in Virginia. 3. Frances Herndon (b. Ca. 1774 in probably Chatham County, North Carolina d. Aft. February 27, 1807 in Logan County, Kentucky) m. Amos West (b. Ca. 1766 in probably North Carolina d. bet. May 6 - June 21, 1819 in Logan County, Kentucky) on April 7, 1791 in Sumner County, Tennessee. 4. Richard West (b. January 6, 1806 in Logan County, Kentucky d. March 4, 1841 in Logan County, Kentucky) m. Amy Ann Williamson (b. February 2, 1806 in Princess Anne County, Virginia d. June 4, 1880 in Graves County, Kentucky) bet. 1826-1827. 5. John William West (b. September 16, 1830 in Logan County, Kentucky d. November 8, 1895 in Graves County, Kentucky) m. Eliza Jane Watts (b. April 26, 1839 in Graves County, Kentucky d. January 5, 1909 in Graves County, Kentucky) on May 26, 1857 in Graves County, Kentucky. 6. John Milton West (b. December 15, 1865 in Graves County, Kentucky d. October 17, 1954 in Hopkinsville, Christian County, Kentucky m. Rozella Wilkerson (b. September 25, 1871 in Graves County, Kentucky d. February 1, 1940 in Graves County, Kentucky) on November 7, 1894 in Graves County, Kentucky. 7. Roy Milton West (b. May 6, 1904 in West Plains, Graves County, Kentucky d. June 10, 1984 in Mayfield Graves County, Kentucky) m. Mary Margaret Traughber (b. December 9, 1905 in Mayfield Graves County, Kentucky d. December 15, 1981 in Mayfield Graves County, Kentucky) on February 16, 1929 in Mayfield, Graves County, Kentucky. 8. Living West and spouse 9.
