    3. http://www.rootsweb.com/~chalkley/index.htm Go here and you will have access to the Court Records. Open up each book or Vol. Then you can search each page for every time the Eng comes up which is what I would suggest that you do. To do this click on each listed page, it will be in blue highlight and you can click on it. Then once the page is fully opened up click on the Edit and find of your web browser page and type in Eng and keep hitting next until you find what you need. Or Open each book or Vol. and scroll down to the bottom and click on index and then search the index to find them. I suggest the page by page method because the first time I used these books online, I used the index and then later was told I had missed a lot of good stuff. So when I went back again, I went page by page and I found it that way! The index is good if you know the exact spelling used for each time the name you seek appears in print.....................but not all folks back then spelled names the same way! They spelled them how they heard them spoken. Hope this is helpful to you. Oh don't let the listed County throw you off, this covers way more than that!!! And yes Caroline Co. VA is covered in these books even though most of it reads Augusta Co. Disregaurd that for the time being............................................... When reading you will note that the other counties are mixed in. I think back then that Augusta must have been like a clearing house or some such for the other local courts or something. It seems that the records all got recorded in this County no matter where the action took place! Perhaps like a District Court today so to speak.
