There is also another Samuel Chewning in Louisa County records, much younger, page 37 Guardian Bond Reuben Chewning Guardian to Sam Chewning orphan of George Chewning Decd. Seconds Jesse Chewning Dec. 12, 1798 My Samuel Chewning was only in Caroline County records married at least twice, died in 1816 children named in will. May have had more children, as there was a court record one page long the suit was dropped and no other information available but apparently William Chewning the son of Samuel was supposed to pay out the estate to the heirs and he hadn't done so, along with the children named in Samuel Chewning's will that are mentioned in the suit is a James Smith and wife Jane Smith. It appears that Jane was a Chewning, due a part of the estate of Samuel Chewning. This James Smith was the brother of my GGGG Grandfather John R. Smith who married Lucy Chewning, daughter of Samuel. Makes sense as James and wife Jane Smith named a son Garret Smith.
