Their children: William, Sarah "Sally", John, Frances, Garrett, Mildred, Lucy, (married John Smith), whom you mention. Also, Nancy Chewning. Samuel Chewning/Mary Jackson (of South Carolina)Married abt. 1783 in Cheraw District, S.C. along the Pedee River. Samuel went to S.C., from Virginia as a Revolutionary soldier, on a land grant. It seems as though he was one of the few Chowning/Chewning's that left Virginia, however there were a few that did to over into Green Co., Kentucky. Samuel and Mary had thirteen children listed as: Anna, Elijah, Nancy, Catque, Georgia "Mary", Sarah "Salley", Cathrine, Harriet, Susannah, Jane, John J. Chewning (born in 1804), just four years before Samuel Chewning, of Virginia died ( We have his will, date 1808 in Baldwin County, Georgia ) Could this be possible? We are related for sure, but did this Samuel, born to William Chowning/Jeanette Jacobus be the same grandfather ? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
