First, my thanks for all the helps and my apology for whatever confusion I have created. I did not focus my questions sufficiently! I am interested at this point only in the years after Judah Levi was put ashore in Leedstown (now in Westmoreland County, Virginia) on January 27, 1772. At that time he was just about 12 years of age. We've been to Leedstown and have contemplated what it must have been like to be so far from home and pretty much alone. He did have his brother Elias, his uncle Henry on that voyage. Also being disembarked was a Rice Levi, about whom I have no information. Judah enlisted as a soldier about 1777. I have two questions: one general and one specific. The general question first: can anyone describe the normal process for a bonded arrival? Were they sold? Were they assigned homes in which to live and work? What was the period of service? The more specific question is simply: Is there any evidence of Judah Levi in this five year period? I am sending this to the Rootsweb sites for the counties between Leedstown and Fauquier County. Again, my regrets that I stated my question so poorly! Richard Batman Williamsburg, Virginia
