I recently learned that Elmira/Almira Wigelsworth married Jefferson Flippo from Caroline County, VA on 1/25/1854. I am interested in finding out more about Jefferson & Elimira Flippo. I am especially interested in the property were they lived during th 1850's & 1860's. I am also trying to determine who owned "North Point" in Caroline COunty, VA during the 1870's. I know prior to that time the property was owned by Stephens Farish and later Charles Todd Farish. I would appreciate any information yuo would like to share. Contained at the end of this text are the names of teachers and students in attendance at that un-named school. But please "read on". There is usable information in the body of the letter. If you are able to access the US 1850 census through www.ancestry.com or by some other means, search for George G. Butler, 1821 Pennsylvania, and click-on, "view original census document". At his name begins his listing as teacher, followed by his immediate family, fellow teachers and students. However, not all of the listings describe students. There is an unknown designation which appears to be "DO" or "D0" in the designation column. I hope someone can explain this term to me. At the end of this page click to the next and more names will follow; the last of the group being H.P. Jett. I am looking for one C.H.Hudgins born 1837, Virginia. His father was C.C. Hudgins with mother, Louisa J. Hudgins, (unknown maiden name) whom I believe resided at St. Paul's Parish, Hanover, VA., during their sons enrollment. I have no trace of any of these people except census, selective service records, etc. I need to network with someone that KNOWS something about the family. IF ANY ONE DOES LOCATE THE SCHOOL RECORD PLEASE TELL ME HOW I CAN OBTAIN C. H. HUDGINS' INFO OR COPIES OF ANY AND ALL FILLED-IN FORMS. I will paste the printer friendly info page from the ancesty.com site below so you know where to start. After that, I will list the teachers and students of the school in hopes someone can find info on the student enrollment info. All persons hail from VA unless otherwise noted. There were a few names I could not decipher. You will see them on the original. I will list them after the confirmed teacher, student and "DO" names. The numbers after the name are the ages of the persons on Dec.17, 1850. 1850 United States Federal Census about C H Hudgins Name: C H Hudgins Age: 13 Estimated birth year: abt 1837 Birth Place: Virginia Gender: Male Home in 1850(City,County,State): Caroline, Virginia HERE ARE THE NAMES IN ATTENDENCE DEC.17, 1880. Her parents were Joseph and Ann Stewart. Elizabeth was born in Louisa county, Va., 1788 per "The Douglas Register". In her fathers will in 1841 in Lincoln County, Ky., he names his daughter Elizabeth Carnal, with his other children. The reason I believe she may have married a Carnal in Caroline County, Va., is because her father bought land from a Daniel Coleman in 1815 in Caroline Co. There are several Carnal's in Carolina County Va., in 1810 and 1820, I just don't know which one she may have married, if, it was one of them. Any help on this would be appreicated. Jim, No, I don't have a history on Edward Coleman. Only some information after he married Elizabeth Long, the sister of my 3rd gt grandfather. I believe he and Elizabeth stayed in Harrison County, Kentucky after the rest of the Long family moved on to the Missouri Territory. Is this the old public library in F'burg? If so, I was there back in the '70s and found it very useful.
I am looking for an address of a place called (I think) the Rappannock Heritage Center, which is supposed to have much information on Caroline Co families. I found a Fredericksburg address on the web but my letter was returned marked 'no such place' Any help will be appreciated. Leslie Wilson
