In the Higbee City Cemetery here in Randolph Co., MO, the oldest marked grave is that of a Wm. Brooks, who I believe was born ca 1795. Since most of the area's earliest settlers were either from KY or VA by way of KY, I'm wondering if he might connect to those you are seeking?

Va. She was born abt 1791 and her fathers name was Benjamin Rollins of Va. He also had other children born in abt 1800 a Louisa, Frances, Juliete Margaret Mildred (all same person) and a son Benjamin F. Rollins. He left Va and moved to Kentucky along with all of his children I have never been able to find a wife with him and believe it is possible he was married more than once because of the ages of the children he mentioned in his will. If anyone has any information on the Rollins of Caroline County I would appreciated hearing from you. Thank You, Sharon Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Ladies, Today I noticed that in 2003 you were discussing Chandler and Tanners and mentioned my article that included John Chandler of Chowan County who d. ca. 1717, his son John and one of the latter's guardians, William Tanner. Much to my regret, I must report to you that DNA testing has shown that if those two Chandler were indeed my ancestors they are NOT connected in the male line to family of 1610 immigrant John Chandler. While it is technically possible my line could still connect to 1610 John with a female link in my genealogy, I think that is very unlikely. Have you learned how your ancestor John Chandler Awbrey got his middle name? I don't see it in every reference to him and middle names were VERY unusual that early in time. Thanks. jc

However, it has very little Terrell members listed. It starts with a mention of a Mary Ann Terrell daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Harris, both of Caroline Co., who were married in 5-1800. It says she had the following siblings: Samuel, Walter, James P., Henry O., and George Fox Terrell. George was a Doctor and lived in the Terrell home. He died at the age of 37. He is buried with his parents at Golansville, in a little burying ground which adjoins the Quaker Meeting House. The remainder of this history is encompassing the RICKS family. A Mary Ann Terrell married Alfred Ricks from Southampton County. Hope it helps, sorry there isn't more for you. Elaine Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am sure this will not be the first response to your query, but . . . The 'DO' means ditto. I have also seen it in small letters and in cursive. Can go on for pages and pages. Some enumerators used our more familiar " to indicate ditto, as we do now. (An advantage of using microfilm where you are forced to go page by page instead of going directly to the page needed is that you notice things like this.) Good luck with your research! Leslie in LA
