    1. Colonial Lodge Purchase Approved

    3. The Prince William Board of County Supervisors gave final approval yesterday to the $1.4 million purchase of Rippon Lodge, a former Colonial-era plantation in Woodbridge that will be converted to a museum. The 17 room estate, set high on a 40 acre bluff near Route 1, is believed to be the oldest home still standing on the Potomac River. It has remained in the family of its builder Richard Blackburn, almost continuously since 1725. Owner Debra Black Decko, a District resident who grew up at Rippon Lodge, put the estate on the market last fall after maintenance and upkeep costs became burdensome. After Decko declined the county's initial offer, Prince William officials decided to use funds froma hotel sales tax to bid higher. Dozens of 18th century antiques will remain in the house, which needs some structural work. The county has not worked out details of the museum plan. This article was in today's Washington Post. I've always wanted to find out where Billy Madison was buried. Rick and I have walked cemeteries over, but no luck. I now understand it is in an unmarked grave somewhere in Gunea. I checked the Cemeteries of Caroline County, Virginia and Caroline County, Virginia Death Records (1919-1994)from The Caroline Progress compiled by Herbert Ridgeway Collins. The only William Madison listed is: William B. Madison, Feb. 1864 - Mar. 1940 buried at Lakewood Cemetery, Bowling Green. He was married to Carrie Taylor and was formerly from King and Queen County. He died at Hinton, West Virginia. One of my Madison's is a William G. Madison who was married to an Edmonia Carneal. They left Caroline and went next door to King George County. Can you supply some more info on your William Madison?

Also, I am related to some Madison's. The only private cemetery I know of in that area is Duncan Cemetery which has a Madison section - none of the graves are marked. This cemetery is located about 10 miles from Guinea. I know some of the Madison's buried there. If you will supply me with their names, I will let you know if they are at Duncan.
