I have that information from the marriage license of Hilbert Temple Stephens and Bettie Celinda Purks of Caroline County, VA. Hilbert's parents are listed on the record. According to the marriage license, Hilbert was born in Nova Scotia. I have a possible lead in that James may have come from France. I will be very glad to exchange information with you.
