Hello Trying to figure out if the above Mills are all related. I can't seem to find a connection - believe there is one, just can't find it. Isadora Mills b. abt. 1870? m. Jim Edward Carneal. They had the following children: Emmet Allen Carneal b. 1890, Wilbur Carneal, Julia Carneal, Abby Carneal, Bessie Carneal, Gracie Carneal and Olive Carneal I only had a sibling listed for Isadora by the name of Addison. Benjamin Franklin Mills, Sr. b. abt. 1841 in Bowling Green, Caroline Co., VA m. Columbia Hester Carneal b. abt. 1845. They had: Benjamin Franklin Mills, Jr. , William Walter Mills, Sr., Charles H. Mills, Mary Eliza Mills, Littleberry Allen Mills, Elizabeth F. Mills, Columbia George Mills and Valle Winchester Mills. All children born between 1857 and 1879. I am trying to determine if there is a connection between Benjamin Franklin Mills, Sr. and the Isadora Mills listed above. Both Mills' married into the Carneal family. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Julie Walters
Vickye: I have a secondary source on Sneed(Snead)/Munday(Monday) lines. The book is FORKS OF ELKHORN CHURCH by Ermine Jett Darnell. On PP.264-266, she writes: A letter written by Harrison Blanton, of Frankfort (KY), states that his grandmother, the wife of Richard Blanton, was a Sneed, being the aunt of Achilles, Landon, and William Sneed, and of Thomas Redd of Franklin CO (KY) and Samuel Redd of Lexington (KY). The record of Miss Kate Payne of Lexington (KY) says that the wife of Richard Blanton was Nancy Sneed, sister of (1) Alexander Sneed, whose will in Mercer CO.,KY 1816, mentions his wife, Susanna (d/o James and Nancy Broaddus Daniel), of Trigg CO,KY, and a. Thomas, b. Patsy Munday c. Sally Brown (2) Ruth married (1) Edmund Munday and had a. Harrison who married Patsy Sneed (d/o Alexander) in Caroline CO., VA b. Thomas, who operated a ferry at Munday's Landing (on KY River). He married Susan Slaughter and they had Edmund, Vardeman, Robert, Gabriel, Lucy, Polly, Reuben. c.William d. James married Joyce Chenault e.Reuben f. Lucy Brown g. Elizabeth h. Sally i. Polly j. Nancy married Christopher Chinn and Ruth married (2) Robert Slaughter of Mercer CO.,KY in 1804. 3. Mollie married Charles Brown. 4. Lucy married Benjamin Newton This sounds as if it is at least one generation later than the Ruth Sneed/Edmund Munday for whom you are searching. I am sure you are familiar with William Lindsay Hopkins citations that places Edmund Munday as a brother to James Munday and Benjamin Munday in a lawsuit against John Long, who had served as guardian of James Munday. It appears that Catherine Long may have been related to the Munday brothers. (page 113 of CAROLINE COUNTY, VIRGINIA COURT RECORDS AND MARRIAGES 1787-1810). The only marriage records for Sneeds in Hopkins is Alexander Sneed m Sukey Sneed 11 Jan 1795; and Samuel Sneed m Polly Daniel 30 Sep 1797. This is all the information I have readily at hand. I research Benjamin Munday who married Rachel Walden d/o John Walden and Sarah Hastings. Benjamin Munday owned land adjoining that of John Walden who lived near Kidd's Corner on the Mattaponi. This is not a direct line of mine but I do descend from John Walden. I hope this information will give you some further clues that will help your research. This is such a difficult time period to do Caroline CO research so sharing information is always a great idea. Eldred Melton
Hello - I am looking for any information on Robert F. Carneal b. 1820 m. Lucy Tigner b. 1820. They had 10 children. On the 1850 Caroline County, Va census he is listed as a "manager". Also searching for Jim Edward Carneal (don't know if there is a connection to Robert). He was married to Isadora Mills. They had 7 children. June Carneal Leitch believes that her grandfather, Jim, is buried in the Duncan Cemetery in Caroline County, Virginia. Thanks for any information you can provide. Julie Walters Westfield Center, OH

Since I have so many connections to Caroline County, I'm going to limit my roll call post to my "difficult" lines. My 2nd great-grandparents were William Thomas (b. 1826 in Caroline County) and Mary I. Long (b. 1827 in Caroline County). I don't know when they died, when they married or who their parents were. Another set of 2nd great-grandparents was Cornelius Long (b. about 1829 in Caroline County) and Delilah Sale (b. about 1837 in Caroline County). Delilah was the daughter of Spilsbe J. Sale and Delilah Haynes. I don't know when Cornelius and Delilah died, when they were married or who Cornelius' parents were. Could Cornelius Long and Mary I. Long who married William Thomas be siblings or cousins? A third set of 2nd great-grandparents was Spilsbe J. Sale (b. May 1, 1799 in Caroline County and d. November 18, 1871 in Caroline County) and Juliet/Julia Martin (b. 1824 in Caroline County). They married in April 1836 in Caroline County. Spilsbe's parents were Richard Sale, Sr. and Sarah Crutcher. I'd love to find out when Juliet/Julia died and who her parents were. My fourth set of 2nd great-grandparents was Silas Jeter Thomas and Sarah Long. They were married on December 18, 1849 in Caroline County. Silas' parents were Catlett Thomas, Jr. and Ann Toombs. I haven't been able to find dates of birth and death for Silas and Sarah and am also looking for Sarah's parents. Could she, Mary I. Long and Cornelius Long be siblings or cousins? Could Silas and William Thomas (the husband of Mary I. Long) be related, as well? These four surnames are VERY important to my Caroline County research. My family tree from my mother to my grandparents to my great-grandparents and through to my 2nd great-grandparents (15 people) show ONLY these four surnames. Nothing like keeping the blood line pure! Any crumb of information would be appreciated. Joann Ellis Humphries RESEARCHING IN CAROLINE COUNTY, VIRGINIA: Thomas, Sale, Long, Martin, Haynes, Crutcher, Toombs, Wright, Goode and Dobson.
It would be helpful if you would list the first name with the surname you are looking for. There is so many of these surnames out there, it would be helpful if there was more than the last name. First Name Dates Locations. Thanks everyone.

Put that information out there so that everyone can experience a smile :) on their face, because you took the time to put out information on a surname other than your own. It's a great feeling to help someone. Have a great week. June
My Caroline county families are the Stanleys and the Clatterbucks. John Allen Stanley was born about 1780, I believe he is the son of Moses Stanley and Mary Allen mills(just no concrete proof). He married Mary Elizabeth Clatterbuck August 1 1805 in Caroline county. Mary Elizabeth's parents were Reuben Clatterbuck and Martha Griffin, Reuben being son of Richard Clatterbuck and Alice ?, and Martha being the daughter of Roy Griffin and Elizabeth Gates/Jeter hard to tell her last name in the revolutionary papers and have yet to find any other documentation. So that my Caroline county names CLATTERBUCK and STANLEY Judy Mace http://www.geocities.com/funnfur/Gus_the_TFT.html Judy Mace http://www.geocities.com/funnfur/Gus_the_TFT.html
If it isn't asking to much......can we have another roll call. I have had several people mention it to me, and we have gotten some newcomers. Those newcomers just could be a relative. What do you say, gang? June
