Posted on: Caroline Co. Va Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Caroline/1807 Surname: White, Bibb, Key, Battaile, Taliaferro ------------------------- Re your question about Wm. White. I am descended from a William White who was married to a Caty (sp?) in mid to late 1700's. I believe they lived at that time in Louisa Co., VA. They had a son, John White Jr. who married Martha Key (daughter of Martin key and Nancy Bibb) on 1/1/1796. They settled in Albemarle Co., VA. Their son Dr. Edmund Pendleton White owned White Hall in Caroline Co., VA where he discovered gold and mined it. He sold White Hall for $90,000 and bought Port Tobago in Caroline Co., VA. All this info is from the Laurence Battaile White family bible which is recorded at the UVA web site. I hope this helps. I am sure this must be the same Wm. White. Caty would very likely be short for Caroline. Amelia White Spurlock
