And any comments would be wonderful. This is what I have now: These are heirs of Thomas Jones (Jr) who died in 1805. He inherited the land of his parents Thomas Jones & Sarah Woolfolk, nearby Doeg town or Dougetown (Milford). Thomas Jones, Jr., was survived by his wife Jane nee Campbell, who held the land "in fee" as late as 1833. John Bame Valentine m Jane Hill Jones (dtr of Thomas, Jr. & Jane). Hill Jones (a son of Jane and Thomas, Jr. ) m his cousin Mary, and was the guardian of Jane M. Beckham (m James White, in 1829, Hill Jones her guardian consented) Hill Jones was also the guardian of Mary W. Beckham, she might be the Mary Buckhorn. Records indicate that Jonathan Jones who married Millicent Coleman & had among others a son, Charles Woolfolk Jones who m Susanna Frances Cole is also (?) a son of Thomas Jones, Jr. Jonathan seems to have died shortly aftr 1810.
Debbie William Johnston of Caroline Co., VA also went Culpepper Co. William's father -- Robert Johnston married was Peggy McClanahan --- daughter of Thomas McClanahan. I am trying to understand the migration from Caroline to Culpepper VA to Bourbon CO., KY. I know Robert Johnston left for Kentucky first from Virginia I have read that Capt. William Johnston owned 60 slaves when he left Culpepper Co., and then moved to KY. I am racking my brain trying to figure out how I would track down a listing of slaves he owned. McClanahan, Conns etc. have these business dealings in Culpepper. Do you have any idea what was going on? I'm trying to get a better understanding of when the families starting migrating from KY to VA and with whom were they doing business etc. Seems like I've seen something on the CONNS related to the Johnstons before. There are so many transactions between the families and their activities that it is hard to keep track. I picked up a copy sometime back on the Johnstons of Caroline CO., VA -- and the deed records to review are massive -- so is Otto Bayse's book on the Bayse family who intermarried with the McClanahans, Johnstons, Hickmans etc. -- there are a litany of transactions for land and slaves -- enough to keep you busy for 3-4 generations with large families to boot. The Thomas C. McClanahan I am interested in is this one: http://www1.iwvisp.com/bobkeyes/JamesWebbSr/ElijahEWebb.html#ELIJAH%20WEBB See the link for the Will of Thomas McClanahan Sr. Just trying to sort it out. traci wilson-kleekamp ----- Original Message ----- From: "Debbie & Jim McArdle" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, June 06, 2005 5:50 PM Subject: [KYBOURBO] Thomas McClanahan & Thomas Conn > Hi Traci! > > I watch for Thomas McClanahan only because of his association with Thomas > Conn.
