Robert, At any time have you done any map plating of this land in Caroline Co. VA in the area of Golansville? Here is why I am aksing you all of these question. I have where a Daniel Cockerham and his wife Fran sold their land in Caroline Co. VA to move over into Halifax Co. where Daniel died later on. This same Daniel was seen as early as 1722 with another man in Caroline Ct. VA the other man was a William Cockerham. I can find William Cockerham on the 1704 tax list of King William Ct. VA. {shown online now}. Now I know this means NOTHING at all to you. But later on we find that a man named Cheadle Cockerham is in this old Cockerham family line? That was my reason for asking about the Cheadle surname seen here in your org. post to the list. I am wondering if perhaps this same man, John Cheadle who purchased land from Thomas Carr happened to have a daughgter named either: Fran, Francis or Martha? Ok your saying that all of these men were Quakers. Quakers kept the best records of all. Do you have any clue as to where these old Quaker Records are now at? For this Church or Meeting House? There is a good chance he is related. I just know from my research William Dink Jackson was related to Thomas and James Jackson. You will not find his brothers and sisters listed in the Census unless you really dig. I know he also had a sister the called Emma.

Gail .. The only place the name Cheadle has shown up is in the notes I included. He was involved with Joseph Butler in the land deal for the Quaker Meeting House there in Golansville. So, he was stillin Caroline. In 1760 Joseph, Sr. bought 300 acres in Halifax County, NC. Joseph, Sr. died in HAlifax County, Nc in 1762/63. His execs were his sons Joseph, Jr.and Stephen. They sold the 400 acres in Cumberland CO, VA. His widow Dolathy had lifetime rights ot the 300 acres in Halifax County. After Josspeh, Sr's. death, his sons Joseph, Jr, and Samuel moved tothe Gray's Creek community of Bladen County, now Cumberland, NC. In 1777, his 300 acre estate in Halifax County was sold to John Steptoe, Sr.. This indicates that his widow Dolathy has died. In fact, a later deed confirms that Joseph, Sr. and Dolathy are buried on the land. I need help in finding any data about Dolathy and/or the children when they were in Caroine County, VA. My ancestor, Joseph Butler, Sr., was born in VA abt 1715. His wife was Dolathy Unknown. This is what we are looking for, Dolathy's surname? They lived in, or near Golansville. Their children were: Elcie, Susanna, Anna, Mary, Ann, Jude, Sameul, Joseph, Jr. and Stephen. I am descended from Samuel Butler. The Joseph Butler, Sr. was involved with the Quaker Church there in Golansville. Later he bought 400 acres in Cumberland County, VA., but we don't think he ever lived there as he was always referred to as being of Caroline County, VA. Later, they moved to Halifax County, NC. Henry Goodloe and John Waller were placed in jail because Henry Goodloe allowed John Waller to preach the Baptist religion in his home. There is quite an article about this and several small ones. Henry Goodloe is my relative and he was a preacher, but I do not know what religion. He was called the marrying minister of Spotsylvania County, Va. The family of Pamenas Pritchett originated in Spotsylvania Co., Virginia, and was listed in censuses in Caroline Co., Virginia (1820) and Marion Co., Missouri (1830). Parmenas died in Marion Co. Missouri in 1835. Other children of Parmenas Pritchett, in addition to Bird and Sarah, are William, Parmenas Bowker, Jr., Frances Ann and Charly.
