The information I have on the Mosely Mott Mullen branch is below. Mosely Mott Mullen b. abt 1784 d. abt 1855 m. Mary DeShazo. They had at least two children, probably more according to census data. They are: John Mullen b. abt 1815 m. Jane Bruce (You will find Mary (DeShazo) Mullen living with John and Jane and their children in the Caroline 1860 census). Mosely Mott Mullen b. abt 1825 d. Feb 1880 m. Susan J. Farmer 10 Jan 1853. They had one child: Peter Reed Mullen b. 13 Sep 1854 d. bef 1930 m. Jane B. Andrews abt 1881 and later married Mary L. Taylor abt 1905. Children of Peter Reed and Jane B. Andrews: Alma Mullen b. abt 1881 d. 27 Sep 1963 Nannie Mullen b. 9 Jul 1883 Mosely Mott Mullen b. 10 Mar 1886 d. abt 1928 Lafayette H Mullen b. 10 Oct 1887 Peter Reed Mullen Jr. b. 20 Mar 1889 Carrie Mullen b. abt 1893 The children of Peter and Jane moved from Caroline to Richmond between 1900 and 1910 after the death of their mother. Peter remarries and also moves to Richmond. You find the children all living together in the 1910 census along with their grandmother, Susan (Farmer) Mullen in Richmond. Mosley Mott Mullen b. 1886 is my great grandfather. He married Mary Eliza Skinner who is also from Caroline County. Moseley Mott died young abt 1928 when my grandmother, Virginia Mullen, was just 4 years old. After his death, Mary (Skinner) Mullen ran a boarding house in Richmond to support herself and her two children. Children of Peter Reed and Mary L. Taylor: Gordon T. Mullen b. abt 1907 Cosby L. Mullen b. abt 1910 I know almost nothing about these children. As mentioned before, Mosely Mott Mullen b. 1886 m. Mary Eliza Skinner. They had 5 children, but only two reached adulthood. They are: Vernelle Mullen b. 1912 d. 1998 Audrey Mae Mullen b. 1915 d. 1918 kidney disease Mosely M. Mullen b. 1917 d. 1919 diptheria Marvin S. Mullen b. 1919 d. 1919 premature birth, lived abt 10 days (The story goes Mary was so distraught at losing her son, Mosely, she went into premature labor). Virginia Mullen b. 1924 d. 1993 Virginia was my grandmother. Both Vernelle and Virginia married and raised families who remain in Richmond to present day. Thank you for the information on the Mullens of Caroline and Fredericksburg. Please keep me posted on any additional information you may find. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: pkessel Surnames: BURUS, TOLER, NORMENT Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.caroline/4079/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm looking at a deed record "Burrus to Toler 1795". There are water ways which help describe the property that no longer exist by the same name. Doe anyone on this list know what the current name of Kidds Mill Creek might be? Or the location of Samuel Norment's property in this time period? The western part of the Burrus property was located in St. Margaret's parish, the south border was the Paumunkey River and the property in question extended on the east into King William County (Horn Quarter) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Kathy, Yes, I should have stated that in the 1870 Census they were living in Chotank Township, King George County. It is possible that they had both passed away before the 1880 census was taken. In the 1860 Census they were in Caroline County. I had always heard from older family members that my g-grandfather, Jefferson Davis Brooks was from Port Royal, Virginia. He finally settled and married Miranda Parker, daughter of Jonas Parker in Dorchester County, MD. (this is where I live). They had 11 children-the oldest being Charles, the father of my father. dera@bcctv.net Regards, Doris ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve & Kathy Stav" <srstav@centurytel.net> To: <vacaroli@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 21, 2007 6:25 PM Subject: Re: [VACAROLI] Vass family in Caroline County > And is this your family in 1870?
