Author: AwmoultonTx Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.caroline/4080.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for any connections to the Fox family of Caroline County, Virginia. So far, I know William Fox (born 1799), married Nancy Anderson (died 1866), was the father of Peter Fox (1830-1900), married Katy or Katie (1824-1894, parents of Robert Fox. Many are recorded as Black, some Mulatto, others unknow. If you can provide a glimmer of information to feed on, I would be most grateful. I do still have a huge amount of family in Caroline County (Sparta and Bowling Green to be specific). My immediate grandparents were Roland C. Hudson and Julia M. Fox. Most of the Fox family is buried on family land and the Jericho Cemetery in Ruthers Glen. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Joanne, Look in REVOLUTIONARY WAR PUBLIC SERVICE CLAIMS I found records for my ancestor giving service to the Militia of Caroline County in 1781 by "driving beeves." I live in Florida but I found someone in Richmond to look it up and send me a copy of the document. It is available on film at the Library of VA. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Jokagal@aol.com> To: <vacaroli@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 02, 2007 7:21 AM Subject: Re: [VACAROLI] John Hampton (1734-1803) > Thank you--I believe that this George is John's son. 2. Thank you--I believe that this George is John's son. I am looking for information on John himself. I know that he didn't serve in the military but contributed to the cause by providing supplies, etc. I just need verification of that. 1. [VACAROLI] F & I War & The Revolution-Russell, Riddle, Butler
    2. Karen
    3. Looking for the surname Butler, Russell or Riddle that entered Revolutionary service in Caroline Co., or filed for pension. Also looking for any reference of these surnames to the French & Indian War. Surnames may also be Buttler, Russel or Russle, Riddell, Riddel, Ridley or Riddley. Although I haven't seen mine listed as such, some suggest Riddle could also be Ruddle/Ruddell. Thanks Karen

Previously, I wasn't aware that Jane married a Jett. The Jett name pops up in the Mullen/Berkley generations at different times. Preston Snellings (Sr) married Arander (Arrie) Berkley (or Sorrell - she may have been adopted by Wm Berkley). They had a number of children. Arrie had a sister, Clementine (or Clemmie) who married John N Mullen, and another sister, Frances (I believe). The Berkley/Sorrell connection is confusing since I am not sure if William Berkley adopted the Sorrell siblings. Again, thanks for your response.
