I had a little bit of time today so I went to the Library of Virginia and did a little searching. Here is what I found: Marriage bond: Signed by Richard Hammersley and James Hamlet for a marriage to take place between Richard Hammersley and Lucy Hamlet....signed 11, May 1807. Richard died before Lucy did. I could not find a will for either. Richard died sometime before March 30, 1833. An appraisal of the estate was done on that date (Campbell Co. Will Bk 7 p. 168). On June 9, 1834 an accounting of the debts due for the Estate were filed (Campbell Co. Will Bk 7, p. 282-283). One of the bonds on the property were held by Lucy Hammersley and James Hamlet. A survey of the property is attached to the document. The land was adjacent to the Little Falling River. Of interest to me is that the surveyor of the land was one of my great-grand uncles, Paulette Clark. Lucy's estate was appraised on June 30, 1835 (Campbell Will book 7, p. 327). There is an accounting of the estate too but I ran out of time on the machine and there was a line waiting. I will have to save that for next time. The Accounting appears in Campbell Co. Will Bk 8, p. 100. I also found in the index an Elizabeth Hamlett who left a will in Campbell Co. Will Bk 7, p. 138, Inventory in same book on p. 171.
