I found this on their website: Clerk of the Circuit Court The Clerk of the Circuit Court, a constitutional officer elected every eight years, is responsible for recording deeds, deeds of trust, mechanics liens, plats, and other miscellaneous instruments on the land record books; docketing of judgments and filing of financial statements under the Uniform Commercial Code. The Clerk files and processes all law and chancery suits including motor vehicle accidents, divorces, injunctions, land partitions, appeals from the General District and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts, adoption proceedings, and name changes. Other duties include issuance of marriage licenses, hunting and fishing licenses; procession indictments for both felony and misdemeanor cases; jury scheduling; probating wills; appointing administrators, trustees, and guardians; collecting fines and costs for Circuit Court.
