Death of Mrs. Martha A. Elder Brookneal, April 9. -- (Special) -- Mrs. Martha A. Elder, widow of Lewallen Elder, died at her home, three miles from this place, on May 2. The burial services were conducted by Rev. P. O. Soyars, of Gladys, on May 4th, in the Ebeneezer cemetery. Mrs. Elder, before her marriage, was Miss Martha Foster. She was 84 years old and is survived by seventy-four grand children, eleven great grand children and twelve children. Her surviving children are: J. W. Elder, Mrs. Emma Mason and S. B. Elder, Brookneal; Mrs. B. E. P. Pool, R. L. Elder, and Mrs. C. W. Hunter, Naruna; George W. Elder, Mrs. J. B. Suddith, Chas. O. Elder, Sylvester Elder, Wm. H. Elder, and Mrs. Roxanna Monroe, Gladys.
