I recently learned of a branch of my family in Campbell Co, Virginia. Elizabeth Joy Maddox and James Edward Scott were married in Campbell County in 1848. Elizabeth Joy's older sister is Eliza Jane Maddox (my ggg grandmother) whose husband, Joseph Scott was Jame's older brother. Eliza Jane and Joseph lived in Baltimore, where most of Eliza's family lived. We don't know how or why Elizabeth and James were in Virginia, except for a vague family legend that the Scotts and Maddoxes came from Virginia. I am looking for the Virginia connection. Elizabeth Joy's parents were Edward Maddox and Rachel Ann Parsons of Baltimore. James' father may have been John D. Scott of ? I was thinking if there were a newpaper mention of their marriage, there might be more information. Or perhaps an obituary (James died before 1870 and Elizabeth between 1880 and 1900). Can anyone guide me on how to go about this from a distance? I am in Baltimore. Thanks, Kellie Scott
