For what it's worth I've run across the name of Rev. Edward Almond performing marriages in Charlotte County as late as 1788, and I think I remember he was also in marriage records of Mecklenburg a bit earlier. For the sake of idle arithmetic, if Rev. Almond had a son born in 1788 that son would have reached age 21 in 1809 and able to marry without consent. But I know nothing personal about the good Reverend. Bill Hunt
