Obituaries for Wednesday, August 21, 2002, Lynchburg, The News & Advance Florence Long Almond Florence Long Almond, 72, of Lynchburg passed away Aug. 19, 2002, at Virginia Baptist Hospital Born March 21, 1930, in South Boston, she was the daughter of the late Julian Long and Frances Adkins Long Vick. Mrs. Almond was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Taylor Almond, in 1995. She is survived by her three children, Rita Farlow, Lawrence R. "Randy" Almond and Rodney W. Almond and wife, Allison, all of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Brittany Farlow and Taylor Almond, both of Lynchburg; and a brother, G.T. Long of Texas. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at Hyland Heights Baptist Church, by the Rev. Carl Weiser. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the family home at 197 Hyland Drive, Rustburg.
