    1. HISTORIC COURTHOUSE MUSEUM: SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
    2. The Campbell County Historical Society is pleased to announce that the Historic Courthouse Museum, located on 774 Village Highway Rustburg will be open on Friday, August 4th, 2006, from 1:00 to 6:00 PM, and Saturday, August 5th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Visitors will view the current art exhibit featuring works by Campbell County artists Georgia Morgan, Arline Whitlow, Marian Cardwell Tweedy, George Carmichael, Bennett Cardwell, Olive Taylor Cardwell, and Peggie and Claude Kilgore as well as view the interior of the courthouse with its ornate 1848 plasterwork. Visitors may also participate in the development of three current museum committee projects to document and research Campbell County's participation in World War II. This fall the Historic Courthouse Museum will focus on the men and women of Campbell County who served in World War II. The exhibit hopes to recognize the wide range of participation, including not only our servicemen but also the families at home who supported the war effort. If you know of Campbell County citizens who served or supported the war effort, please let the museum committee know so we can offer them the opportunity to be acknowledged and included in the exhibit. Especially needed is the loan of artifacts such as pictures, uniforms, and other World War II-related items. Also very needed are photographs of such items, which may be used for research or for planned display exhibits, visitors are encouraged to bring these items to the museum on these days. For more information you may go to the website http://www.myvirginiaheritage.com/cchs_museum.htm or call the museum at (434) 332-9618 and leave your name and number so that we may contact you.
