    3. I copied these items from books at home. Hope they help to sort out and discover the Glass line being searched. Bill Hunt Marriage Bonds, Bedford County: William Glass and Sarah Pursley, February 1, 1775. William Pursley, surety. Reuben Simmons and Frances Glass, July 23, 1779. Benjamin Tanner, surety. Consent of Vincent Glass, father of Frances. Note: Campbell County was formed, for the most part, from existing Bedford County in 1782. That meant some adults who were recorded in Bedford as supplying provisions, etc., in 178, were later certified in 1782 as residents of "new" Campbell County. The DAR I think, and some years ago, accepted a record of provisions "donated" by a person to the American troops as proof of patriotism. Even if the provisions were actually "impressed" (collected by an official) seems to have made no difference. I don't mind being corrected and/or brought up to date on current DAR rules! Virginia Publick Claims - Bedford County List 1, Return of Provisions Collected 1781 by Christopher Irvine p. 1 Vincin Glass; 2 diets, 21/2 pecks corn p 11, Virginia Publick Claims - Campbell County At a Court held for the County of Campbell 7 March 1782.... property impressed or taken for publick service ... duly proved in court and ordered to be certified to the General Assembly... Vincent Glass for 5 days waggon, team & driver removing Continental Stores June '81 Vincent Glass for waggon & team for Cont. and not returned; 83 pounds, 16 shillings p 2 Tax: Note: on these personal property tax lists the phrase "self responsible for tax" indicates the man had reached age 21 and so was born by 1766, but there was nothing ever written or intended to indicate an actual age. Sr. and Jr. was used by officials to identify two different men of the same name in the area but of different ages. The use of Sr. and Jr. was not limited merely to indicate relationships.
