I am a PERSON OF COLOR whose family worked/sharecropped for the white Farmers of Campbell County, Lynchburg, Rustburg, Otter River, etc....My male line was born "free" because my many great grandmother was a "Free Issue"..probably Indian from Bedford County...Her name was Rachel Allen. She married into the Black/Mixed race Farmer Clan and had my line, Richard in 1824. She later married Edward Freemen (Free Person) and had two daughters by him...I had the pleasure of meeting/being invited to the home of Rachel Parsons Flynn Bishop...whose maiden name was FARMER...She pretty much gave me a number of items to incl our family's history/crest....The NSDAR sent me an application that was filled out by one of our ancestors...can't think of her name at the moment.... This is just to give you a flavor of my history and how intimately I am involved with the Farmers, pretty much, all of the Farmers of Campbell County.... I have some wonderful stories...
