Can't fine Edward C. Alexander on your webside. Don't mention Battle of Yellow Tavern that took place the day before (May 11, 1864). Was interested in Gen George Armstrong Custer--he was in Hardin Co, Ky, a command post at Brown- Pusey House, later was killed at the Little Big Horn (an ancestor of mine, from Hardin Co, was with him). ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sarah" <sarahreveley@grandecom.net> To: <vacampbe@rootsweb.com> Cc: <mkscv55@webtv.net> Sent: Sunday, June 03, 2007 10:59 PM Subject: Re: [VACAMPBE] Confederate Soldier >>> We are looking for information about Edward Clarenon Alexander, >>> Confederate Soldier who died/killed in action on May 12-16, 1864. >>Can't fine Edward C. Alexander on your webside. Don't mention Battle of >>Yellow Tavern that took place the day before (May 11, 1864).<< Look for Edward Alexander, Confederate, Virginia. Their search boxes don't have a middle initial. The search will show a middle name if it is there. You need to tell the National Park Service what they are missing, go to http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/email.htm and let them know. They rely on interested citizens such as yourself to catch ommissions & errors. If you go to http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/info.htm the National Park Service explains where they got the data, and they have started with a Names Index so they have over 6 million names with basic info. Ancestry's source has only 2 million + names so far but more data per name, which is explained at http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/military/cwrd/main.aspx?enc=1 . Ancestry also includes the NPS database at http://www.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=1138&enc=1 . It's good to see two sources, by the time Ancestry gets all the names in, and NPS gets all the additional data in, they will both be pretty similar. Did you ever remember that other website? Sarah
