I am looking for info. on: William C. Lynch m. Parkey Jordan 1818 Campbell Co. (Quaker records) (I did notice your maiden name) Samuel Croley m. Jemima Callahan 1817 (same source) to try and connect them to: Tyree Croley m. Angeline B. Lynch 1840 Campbell Co. (again same source) I believe that Parkey Jordan Lynch died in 1838, William C. Lynch remarried a Polly Lynch in 1840 that I think may also be a child of Samuel & Jemima. I don't find William C. after the 1850 census, but Polly is still in Campbell Co. And I still find Samuel Croley/Crawley in the 1880 census. I'm afraid I haven't been at this enough to know what records to ask you to look up, If you can help me I would be more than grateful. Thank you kindly, Victoria Hubbell Tucker Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My ancestors, the Reveleys, lived there. In 1793, George settled in Campbell County near White Marsh Branch of Reed Creek below Concord, near the Appomattox County line. Are you related to the Reveleys? The land stayed in the family until the 1840s. White Marsh Plantation may no longer be there. I have a map titled Lidwig Bucholtz Map 1859 (LibVA) that has many of the Mountains and Waterways of Campbell Co VA of 1859. I am trying to locate information stated in 1782-1800 Deeds to that map and can do so for many of the deeds I am interested in. However, 3 I cannot locate for sure are: White Marsh Shepherds Creek Which is the South Fork of the Falling River vs the North Fork? My guess is the fork that goes to the Northwest and has Bear Creek on it is the South Fork and the branch that is longer and goes to the Northeast with Mill Creek, Tatttlesnake Cr, etc is the North Fork. Help appreciated. Walter. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: lindseybourne Surnames: Dean Hunt Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.campbell/726.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I've been buried in old Campbell County Deed Book abstracts today, and I've seen Seneca Creek mentioned quite a lot. According to the "Seneca Creek" link at http://www.placenames.com/us/51031/stream/, Seneca Creek is located at Latitude 37.09, Longitude -79.12333. Go to the web page that link points to, click on the "Seneca Creek" link, and you'll see links on the resulting page to several map pages. Looks like Seneca Creek runs pretty much parallel to the railroad tracks between Alta Vista and Brookneal, and ultimately runs into the Roanoke River, forming most of Campbell County's southern border. 3. Carolyn, Great to hear from you! The golf course was originally my gggrandparents farm. I know that Edward's sister, Judith, who died as an infant was buried in the same place. So was another sister, Sallie Ann Alexander Nash. I expect their parents are also buried there and possibly their brother, William who also died in the war, although I don't know that for sure. The golf course got permission to lay the gravestones flat. Twenty-five or so years ago one of my aunts took me there to show me where the homeplace had been and where the graves are. 1. [VACAMPBE] Virginia cemetery laws- Confederate Soldier IMPORTANT
    2. Sarah
    3. Go to http://www.dhr.virginia.gov/homepage_general/OLD_faq_cem_%20presv.htm and see what all is involved. If they put in a public notice in the paper it sounds like they are doing this correctly, but somebody should check and BE THERE. "Someone else now owns the land where my ancestors are buried. What are my rights regarding that cemetery? Unless the deed of sale for the property specifies certain conditions of the sale, then most rights go to the new property owner. Virginia law requires a property owner to make a reasonable good-faith effort to notify descendants of people buried in an abandoned family cemetery when seeking a court order to remove the graves. " "What are the legal means for removing and relocating human remains from cemeteries and burial places? In the Commonwealth of Virginia, human remains can be legally removed from a cemetery or burial place and relocated by obtaining a court order or through a permit procedure administered by the Department of Historic Resources." "Who is responsible for getting the court order or permit? Removing a burial or cemetery is ultimately the responsibility of the person(s) or agency that owns the land and proposes to use the land in a different way. For example, if a developer buys farmland containing a cemetery and wishes to build on the cemetery plot, that person will be responsible for getting the appropriate authorizations, contracting for either a funeral director or archaeologist to conduct the removal, and paying for it. If a homeowner finds burials while building an addition or digging in a garden, then the homeowner is responsible for getting permissions, etc. The costs of removing of human burials are the responsibility of the person or entity requesting the action." "What are "archaeological permits" for removing human burials? Permits for the removal of human burials are required of any person or entity that conducts any type of archaeological removal of human remains, including archaeological investigations conducted as part of a court-approved removal of a cemetery. Persons or entities requesting such removal of human burials from a historic cemetery must obtain a permit for the archaeological removal of human burials. Click here for a Permit Application for Archaeological Removal of Human Burials."

    3. Edward Clarendon Alexander was born 13 May 1844 in Campbell County, Virginia, the son of Henry Ashton Alexander and Sarah Ann Moorman (my 2nd great grandparents). He was conscripted 1 Feb 1864 into Company G, 2nd Cavalry and was killed 16 May 1864 at Meadows Bridge. Where is he buried and where is he being moved? What can I do to help? Edward had two brothers who also were soldiers. William died 8 Sept 1861. Samuel survived and was paroled at Appomattox but was a invalid for the rest of his life. Mary --- Mary E. Stewart mstewart@kaballero.com

    3. >>Can't fine Edward C. Alexander on your webside. Don't mention Battle of >>Yellow Tavern that took place the day before (May 11, 1864).<< Look for Edward Alexander, Confederate, Virginia. Their search boxes don't have a middle initial. The search will show a middle name if it is there. You need to tell the National Park Service what they are missing, go to http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/email.htm and let them know. They rely on interested citizens such as yourself to catch ommissions & errors. If you go to http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/info.htm the National Park Service explains where they got the data, and they have started with a Names Index so they have over 6 million names with basic info. Ancestry's source has only 2 million + names so far but more data per name, which is explained at http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/military/cwrd/main.aspx?enc=1 . Ancestry also includes the NPS database at http://www.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=1138&enc=1 . It's good to see two sources, by the time Ancestry gets all the names in, and NPS gets all the additional data in, they will both be pretty similar. Did you ever remember that other website? Sarah
