Lacy and Lacey appear as middle names only in my Thorntons and they are descendants of the the Thorntons I mentioned in my earlier post.

From what I understand, she married John West Howell in 1881 in Campbell County, Virginia. I noticed in this exchange of posts that an Emma Elizabeth Board Wood was part of the family, but the age would be out of range for my Emma. The 1920 census lists her as being 68 and living in Bedford with her husband John and two of John's nephews. I noticed that you gave information on a William A. Wood who appears to have been born around 1850. This would put him in the same age range as my Emma. I'm wondering if his grandmother wasn't the other Emma and that my Emma might have been a sister or cousin in the same family. Do you have any information on an Emma Elizabeth Wood born around 1852? Thanks in advance for any assistance you may be able to offer.

Dear List, I have traced my husband's family back to his great great grandfather, Clifton L Strong in Campbell County. Is there anyone who is researching the Strong name. Also, would anyone have a list of cemeteries in Campbell County that might show if he is buried there. I find Clifton on the 1850 census with a Martha (I assume she is his wife) and two children, Oden C who is five (correct age as he was born in 1845) and a four year old boy named Zacheriah. Oden C went by his middle name, Clay. I just visited his burial site in Floyd County. There are other Strongs living in Campbell County in 1850. I wonder if there is a relationship between these families. Thank you, Sharon Strong
