    3. I found this on their website: Clerk of the Circuit Court The Clerk of the Circuit Court, a constitutional officer elected every eight years, is responsible for recording deeds, deeds of trust, mechanics liens, plats, and other miscellaneous instruments on the land record books; docketing of judgments and filing of financial statements under the Uniform Commercial Code. The Clerk files and processes all law and chancery suits including motor vehicle accidents, divorces, injunctions, land partitions, appeals from the General District and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts, adoption proceedings, and name changes. Other duties include issuance of marriage licenses, hunting and fishing licenses; procession indictments for both felony and misdemeanor cases; jury scheduling; probating wills; appointing administrators, trustees, and guardians; collecting fines and costs for Circuit Court. Most records of this office (with certain exceptions) are open to the public. She found the same names in almost all counties including John, James, William, Henry, Thomas, Samuel, Ann and Mary. She followed these names and only a Charles disappeared from her search. She states that he probably went to Barbados. There was some connection between some Farmers and Barbados according to her book. She does not know if these Farmers are related to the line that the book is mainly about. This book is in the Bedford Public Library. Tim Witt
