This was scanned from an original issue of the Lynchburg Virginian dated Oct. 12, 1846, and you can see it online here: http://theoldentimes.com/alfredpenn46va.html I hope it's helpful! VMI has a complete roster of all the cadets at http://www.vmi.edu/archives/Civil_War/rosterag.html and an account of the battle at http://www.vmi.edu/archives/Civil_War/cwnm.html I'm proud to say we had a Reveley there, George Francis Reveley, who survived the Battle of New Market and enlisted after graduation. He died in 1867 from results of his stay in a prison camp. Sarah Reveley San Antonio, Texas

Hold it...are these part of my Martins and Millers and Campbells that are buried somewhere in a cemetery near Rustburg? They started out a hundred years before in Pennsylvania? Let me go find that....it may take a bit.....be patient. I couldn't find the cemetery when I was there in July. They are connected to my Galbraiths and McCrackens, who married into the Reveleys. By the time I get this all sorted out I'll be 104. David JOHNSON was born about 1785 and died before September, 1820. He married Polly ??? and may have married her in Campbell Co. around 1804-1805. They resided on/near Tom Branch and later in Bedford Co. What was Mary/Polly's maiden name? If someone could do a Marriage Bond look up, I sure would appreciate it. If someone has any info on this couple and their children, it would be most helpful. Thank you.
