I made a mistake on my notes to the group on the death of Publius Jones, Sr., son of Michael Jones. Publius Jones Sr. died sometime before October 14, 1811. I have an estate inventory for Publius Jones, Sr. on October 14, 1811. Campbell Will Book 3 pp. 76-77. Also in Campbell Co WB 3 p 128 there is another inventory record for Publius Jones, dec'd with Elizabeth Jones adminstratirx 8 Dec 1811. Publius Jones, Jr. died February 24, 1817. He spoke to witnesses that day about his wishes for his estate and the witnesses wrote the will the next day on February 26, 1817. (Nuncupative Will mentioned in my last post)
Does anyone know what happened to the Thomas MANN, who married Prudence BLANKENSHIP, 30 Sep 1800 according to the Register of Marriages,Campbell Co. VA, page 103. Did they have any children? I did find a Thomas MANN, age 74 with Prudence MANN age 70 and an Ardena MANN age 23 in Adair Co, KY in the 1850 census. Is this the same Manns? Also show a Thomas MANN in ADAIR Co KY in 1840 Census. If these are the same-does anyone know when they wemt to KY and where they first settled? Many, many thanks! mikowa

She married William Glass TANNER on 11-26-1829 in Campbell Co., VA. They moved to Gallia Co, OH sometime between 11-11-1830 and 5-7-1832. Their son, John Woodson Tanner, was born in VA on 11-11-1830. There were 12 other children born in Ohio. Mary Jane Tibbs Tanner died 11-14-1884 in Gallia Co., OH where she is buried in Old Pine Cemetery in Rio Grande, OH.. I believe she had a sister, Martha, who married one of William Glass Tanners’ brothers, Branch Tanner. I'm searching for Mary Jane Tibbs parents, grandparents, etc.
I have a few records on the Jones family. I have not researched this family thoroughly but I am a descendant of Michael's son, Publius Jones. The records I have are records I have stumbled upon while working on Publius (Publias) Jones. In most of the later records the name is spelled Publius so I will use that spelling to save confusion. Publius Jones, Sr. was born about 1765 and died February 25, 1817 in Campbell County, VA. He left a nuncupative will (Campbell Will Book 4, p. 13). THIS Publius Jones was married to Elizabeth Word. Their son, Publius Jones, Jr. was the Publius married to Rebecca Moore on December 24, 1799 in Campbell Co. (bond date Dec. 4, 1799). I have Michael Jones (the father of Publius Jones, Sr.) death abt. January 22, 1781 in Bedford County, VA. I have the will as being written on May 15, 1780 (Bedford Co. Will Book 1, p. 385). This was according to the probate record on January 22, 1781 in Bedford Co. (found also in Bedford Will Book 1, p. 385.) In his will his youngest children are said to be: Susanna, Dudley, Daniel, Christi (Crestania), and Erasmus. The only other child named in his will is Publias Jones who was to receive 1 shilling sterling silver. Publias was to be an executor for the will. Ann, Michael Jones's wife, was named in the will indicating she may have out lived him. He also names a son-in-law, Samuel, whose surname and spouse are not given. But judging from the last post he may have been the husband of Crestania (Christiana) Jones. As to the children, I have of Michael Jones and Anne [--?--] the children: Lucy, Michael (possibly married to Leanna Dibrill), George, Susanna, Dudley (m. to Jane McKnight), Crestania (Christiana), Erasmus (b. May 8, 1762; m. Amiah Fuqua), Daniel (b. Feb. 16, 1768; m. married to Nancy ?), and my ancestor,Publius (b. abt. 1765). That is all I have gotten so far. I hope this helps.
On subject of name of George Jones in Campbell Co. VA I saw an abstract of will of Samuel Leasion(Leason) of Campbell dated May 25, 1782, and proved Mar. 6, 1783. Leason nominated Mial Jones (was it Miles?), George Jones, and Publious Jones as his Executors, plus his wife Mary. One of the witnesses to the will signed as Ann (her x mark) Jones.
