You've hit at the heart of my problem with the Lambs. I have several within my tree that I have not been able to attach to the proper parents. First, my line runs through Mary Jane Butler, b. 28 Apr. 1818 in Campbell Co. She married Barnabus Arthur Harris (son of Benjamin Butterworth Harrisa and Susanna Eidson) 24 Sep. 1840 in Randolph Co. The line followed the route you outlined earlier through Cass County, Iowa, with the couple's daughter Martha Catherine (Mattie - and my gg grandmother) marrying William Cornelius Peacock in Cass County. The Peacocks eventually ended up in Greene Co., IA. I have Nathan actually married to another Butler daughter. (Most of this is based on Bedke.) Here is what I show for Jonathan Butler's children and their spouses: 1 F: Delitha BUTLER Birth: 1802 Campbell, Virginia, USA2 Death: 1 Sep 1838 Randolph, Indiana Spouse: David Barlow LAMB Marriage: 3 Dec 1827 Campbell Co., Virginia ---------------------------------------- 2 M: William BUTLER Birth: 5 Jul 1804 Campbell, Virginia Death: 2 Sep 1885 Randolph, Indiana Spouse: Theodosia "Doshea" CALLOWAY Marriage: 13 Dec 1831 Campbell Co., Virginia Spouse: Thirza Tweedy ROSSER (ROZER) Marriage: 9 Dec 1839 Campbell Co., VA ---------------------------------------- 3 M: James BUTLER Birth: 1806 Campbell, Virginia Death: Jun 1861 Windsor, Randolph, Indiana Spouse: Elizabeth Evaline CLAY Marriage: 20 Dec 1830 Campbell Co., VA ---------------------------------------- 4 F: Martha BUTLER Birth: 22 Feb 1808 Campbell, Virginia Death: 22 Dec 1890 Randolph, Indiana Spouse: Nathan G. I was missing John C. Now can you tell me who his parents were? Thanks for the help. Jackie

Lamb died between 26 October 1809 and 12 February 1810, leaving wife Nancy; sons, Littleton P(atrick),William A, Nathan J.,and David B.; daughters Polly T. and Selah B. His wife was also pregant when his will was written. Nathan married (I believe) Delitha Butler and David another of Jonathan Butler's daughters. I believe both these couples moved to Randolph County, Indiana in about 1837. Which child of Jonathan and Elizabeth Butler is your ancestor? Best regards, Dan Cambridge

Surnames: Butler, Lamb, Harris Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HBC.2ACI/336.487.499.503.1 Message Board Post: Jonathan Butler did indeed marry a sister of Nancy Harris (m. to Edward Butler.) Jonathan married Elizabeth "Betty" Harris on 14 Sept. 1861 in Campbell County. The couple are my 4th g grandparents. According to Bedke, eleven children were born to Jonathan and Betty, all in Campbell County, Virginia: Delitha, William, James, Martha, Nancy Ann, Jonathan, Elizabeth Thomas, Edward, Mary Jane, Robert Henry and Louisa Fountain. The Butler and Harris families seemed to travel with and intermarry with a Lamb family. I have some details on that family but in comparison to the Butlers and Harris families, the Lambs are more of a mystery to me. I'd do have more information on this side of the family if you need it. 3. For what it's worth I've run across the name of Rev. Edward Almond performing marriages in Charlotte County as late as 1788, and I think I remember he was also in marriage records of Mecklenburg a bit earlier. For the sake of idle arithmetic, if Rev. Almond had a son born in 1788 that son would have reached age 21 in 1809 and able to marry without consent. But I know nothing personal about the good Reverend. Bill Hunt
