Our lineage also includes Phoebe Stokes (b: abt 1738) who married Josiah Freeman in Surry Co NC and their daughter Prudence married James Barham. There was also Agnes Stokes who married Josiah's brother Arthur Freeman in 1739. Some of our Barhams also married into the Clark and Jones families of southeast VA. Lamb Do a find for "Littleton" on these long pages. http://www.lambsite.com/lambgen/data/v5hm.htm http://www.lambsite.com/lambgen/data/v2ag.htm I have quite a bit of information on the following Virginia families, all of whom are interrelated: Butler, Harris, Lamb, Johnson, Blankinship, Crouch, Lynch. Here are a few relationships you may or may not be aware of: * The Albert Johnson who married Jamima Harris was probably a brother of the Peyton Johnson who married Elizabeth Thomas Butler. Am trying to confirm this with Anne. * I have a Benjamin Butterworth Harris, born c. 1835 who married Elmira Douglass in Johnson County, Iowa, in 1857. They were in Fort Collins, Colorado in late 1800s, where your ancestor Barnabus Harris ended up. Believe Benjamin may have been the son of William Price Harris, son of William Harris and Jane Butterworth, who died in Linn County, IA. Does this ring any bells? * Martha Butler, daughter of Edward Butler and Nancy Harris was the 2nd wife of Rowland Blankinship, my ggggrandfather. * I believe Mary Fields Johnson who married Edward Butler, son of Jonathan, was the sister of my ggggrandmother, Sarah Johnson Blankinship, but have been unable to confirm. Some of these relationships may be of no interest to you, but it is amazing how these families became intertwined over the course of several generations in Virginia, Indiana and Iowa. Best regards, Dan Cambridge P.S. Thirza Rosser, who married William Butler, was the daughter of John Rosser and Levica Tweedy. Her half brother was Thomas Lafayette Rosser, a Brigadier General for the Confederacy and later a general in the Spanish American War.

Here I run acoss him again with the Holt family. These Holts are 2nd 3x removed cousins of mine but many of them are married to 1st cousins 3x removed of mine. I have some information on this family that came to me from 2 cousins that are researching Holts. From them I have the following dates for those people Glen was looking for: Samantha Carolyn Holt was born Oct. 13, 1837 in Campbell Co. She married William Woodson Berkley (son of Garland Anderson Berkley and Catherine Francis Clark) on Oct. 23, 1866 at the home of Rufus Holt. She died August 30, 1898 and is buried at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetey in Charlotte Co., VA. They had 5 children (I have names if you want them). Rufus Blackwell Holt b. Feb. 1, 1844 in Campbell Co., VA; d. Feb.3, 1920. Married to Sarah Elizabeth Reams (dau. of William Reams and Nancy Pugh) on Nov. 30, 1873. They had 3 children. (I have names of children if you want them. Richard Meredith b. June 2, 1832 in Campbell Co., VA; d.bet. 1891-1892 in the Richmond area. m. to Sarah Franes Elizabeth "Betty" Berkley on Aug. 21, 1854 (b. abt. 1836, d. 1891 in Richmond, VA; dau of Garland Anderson Berkley and Catherine Frances Clark;sister of William Woodson Berkley above). They had 10 children. (I have children's names if you want them). James Pascal Holt born Dec. 4, 1830; d.June 20, 1864 in Chesterfield Co., VA. He was married Oct. 16, 1851 to his cousin Adelia E. Mason b. Nov. 30, 1832; d. July 28, 1908 in Jacksonville, AK (dau. of Philip Baxter Mason and Nancy C.Holt, who was sister of James F. Holt). They had 4 children whose names I also have. Nancy Ella Holt...I only have a birthdate June 2, 1840. I have no more information on her. I am sure you probably have birth and death dates for your Burwell Nicholas Holt and his wife, Charlotte Elizabeth East. Other information I have on Burwell involves his involvement in the Civil War. Information contained in the regimental series for the 56th VA Infantry on Burwell Holt: Present July 18- October 31, 1861; had jaundice September , 1861; sick July 1862; WIA at Frazier's Farm; WIA and POW at Gettysburg- exchanged from Chester, Pennsylvania hospital- admitted to Richmond Hospital with gun shot wound in the hip in July 18, 1863; listed as absent wounded July 10, 1863; present May through August 1864; received clothing October 13, 1864.

I don't recall anyone mentioning what the F stood for. According to the same source, Sarah Mason was born June 7, 1800--probably also in Campbell County. There is a published history of the Masons, and there is a copy in public library at Charlotte CH. Robert F. Holt is my ggg also, via Burwell Nicholas Holt & his daughter Grace Eliza Holt. I read the book "I Wrote You Word...the Poignant Letters of John Lee Holt" and it was a most fasinating and interesting book. I had not heard or read anything about the war from a foot soldiers point of view. Before I read John Lee's book I read the book on the 56th Virginia Infantry Regiment and it was most interesting to compare, what might be termed and "official" account with that of a foot soldier. Since I made the post last year I have acquirred the names of all of the children, at least I think so, but I do not have some of the dates of birth and death. If you have any of these dates I would appreciate it if you would share them with me. I do not have the following: James F. Holt - birth and death (do you know what the F is?) Sarah Mason (his wife) - birth and death Rufus Blackwell H. - birth and death Richard Meredith H. - birth and death James Paschal H. - birth Samantha Carolyn (Sis) H. Berkley- birth and death Nancy Ella H. - birth and death

John Lee was killed during Pickett's charge at Gettysburg, and James Paschal was killed in action at Drewry's Bluff in 1864. There is a good book called "I Wrote You Word...the Poignant Letters of John Lee Holt" that gives a view of a soldier's life, plus it contains pictures of three of the brothers. If I can lend you any more info then let me know.
