    1. [VABUCKIN-L] Faces in a Photograph

    3. Hi Fellow Researchers, I am continuing to search for my Banton relatives from Buckingham. I have two related questions which some of you may be able to help me with. 1. My parents told me about a young man with a Banton surname who became a major league baseball player. I believe he brought their newspaper as a youngster. I cannot remember his name. Anyone heard of a Banton who played baseball at this level probably as late as the 40's and early 50's? 2. I have in my possesion a photograph which I received among many pictures from my mom. The picture is of a graying middle-aged man, tall and handsome and he is flanked by two young ladies, possibly in their early 20's. The ladies are also tall and slim. Although they are not dressed alike, they could be twins. This party of three is standing beside a 1930 era auto which appears not to have seen a drop of soap and water on its' sheetmetal for many weeks. On the back of the picture are the names--- Jimmy Maxey, Elsee Banton, and Lizzie Banton. I can only assume that this photo was shot in Buckingham since that is where my father is from and he descended from the Buckingham Bantons. If any of these names is familiar to any of you, I would be delighted to hear from you. Thank you sincerely for the time you took to read this. Jim Taylor Newport News, Va.
