Hi, I have a book with church and marriage records 1764-1822, in this book is listed a Stephen Wright to Peggy Brooks, 11/1/1784.Bondsman Peter Ford.Possibly parents of your William? Could someone explain to me the meaning of Bondsman in the listing?Many of the listings have either "consent of" or "Bondsman" One of the listings says,Joseph Martin to Magdalene Luttrel,spinster,6/8/1787.Bondsman Presley Luttrel. Can anyone tell me what "spinster" means in this situation,maybe her job??
