    2. Dear Sir I think you mean Bent Creek that flows into the James River. Each year they have a Batteau Festival at Bent Creek that honors the men and people that carried tobacco down the James River from Madison Heights, VA also know as Hog Head during this period. Named from the large containers of tobacco that was loaded outside of Lynchburg, VA and floated down the James River to Richmond, VA. The towns down the James River were Brightswell Mill, Galts Mill, Riverville, Allens Creek, (Bent Creek know as Diguidsville,) Norwood, Winginia, Howardsville, Scottsville, and etc. right on down to Richmond, VA. The town of Diguidsville was laid out by Thomas Jefferson and there was a mill located there and a Chapel Know as Rose' Chapel. Later the name was changed to Bent Creek. There is a Book written by Dr. Catherine Seaman, past professor of Sweet Briar College , Sweet Briar Va. on this area. Bent Creek had the first Masonic Lodge located there in Buckingham County. There was also a Post Office located there that served Buckingham County. Hope this mighty answer some of your questions. I know a little about this area as I own a home located across from Bent Creek in a small town of Gladstone, VA. Route 60 crosses the James River at Bent Creek, Va. There is nothing there but a cross roads. They are building a new state park just down the James River at Bent Creek. Hve a nice Day. Charles W. Brown
