    1. [VABUCKIN-L] Duncan's Store and the Duncan Family in Cumberland/Buckingham Cos.
    2. Hello everyone, I'm relatively new to this list and wondered if someone could tell me the vintage (time frame) of the town designated as Duncan's Store in Cumberland Co, Va.? I have a map which indicates it on Duncan's Store Road which appears to run from the town to a point in Buckingham County (anyone know the terminus of this road?) Reason for my request: I am trying to discover the parents of one Charles Duncan, b. 1775 (VA) and his wife, Nancy Ford (b. 1775, Va.). One source indicates that Charles' father is one Jacob Duncan from Buckingham Co. I have not found any information which confirms or denies this presumption. Charles is found in Burke Co, NC in 1818 with the birth of his youngest son, William McCandree Duncan. Does the name McCandree mean anything in Cumberland or Buckingham Co? He then moves through Buncombe Co, NC, through Macon Co, NC (1820's-1833) and finally settles in Union Co, GA (1833). With the large number of Duncans in the late 1700's, many of whom are named Charles, I had hoped that someone would recognize his wife's surname or the middle name of William to help place this Charles with his proper parents. Would appreciate any and all clues, hypotheses, information, etc. anyone would care to share. Sincerely, Dot Wilson Duncan Tampa, Florida
